To celebrate this day, we gonna have our coffee with a shot.
Since the obligatory eggnog is already on the table for Easter, you do not need to go shopping at a “Späti” or gas station for the following recipe.
By the way, Advocaat comes from the Antilles and Brazil and was originally made from avocados, cane sugar and rum (abacate). When the drink reached the Netherlands, the avocados were replaced with eggs because avocados were not available in the Netherlands.
Depending on what else you have at home, there are the following versions of eggnog coffee. A little hint. Layer everything over a spoon on top of each other and start with the eggnog.
- Dutch coffee as in the Rhineland: coffee with 4 cl eggnog, whipped cream and chocolate crumble.
- Diplomats coffee as in Belgium: Pour the hot coffee over 3 tbsp of eggnog and a generous amount of milk froth on top. Dust with a little cocoa powder and enjoy layer by layer.
- Advocaat coffee as in the Netherlands: Pour the hot coffee over 3 tbsp of eggnog and a generous amount of whipped cream on top. Dust with a little cocoa powder and enjoy layer by layer.
